Scouting Awareness Day event scheduled

Troop 876 of Carrollton will host its First Annual Scouting Awareness Day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at Mary Heads Carter Park, located at the intersection of Carmel Street and Kelly Boulevard in Carrollton.
“Our mission is to offer families from the Carrollton, Farmer’s Branch, Lewisville, Coppell, Addison and North Dallas areas a hands-on experience of what scouting is all about, “ said Marc Maulof, assistant scoutmaster for Troop 876. “The outdoor Scouting Awareness Day event will consist of scout-led demonstrations for kids and their parents, showing those life skills and benefits that scouting can offer.”
He added, “Guests will be encouraged to try their hand at any of skills on display. There will be a model scout campsite, campfire display, knot tying station, pole lashing demonstrations, canoe class, SWAT team fingerprinting table, horsemanship, paper airplane class, computers, and much more.”There will be no admission charge for the event. The Adult Leadership Committee for Troop 876 will be on hand to answer questions and assist scouts as needed.Troop 876 currently has over 100 members as both scouts and adult leaders.
