12-5A BOYS SOCCER: Stallions edge Longview in shootout

It is too early for any team to panic, but the three Mesquite ISD boys soccer teams are already looking up at 12-5A foes Tyler Lee, Rockwall and Longview in the district standings.
On Tuesday, North Mesquite was able to pick up ground on one of those squads, as they pulled out a 4-3 shootout victory over the Lobos.
North Mesquite (1-1-1-0, five points) got regulation scores from Ivan Canales, Oscar Ocampo and Gustavo Rosas to move into sole possession of fourth place.
Many times, three goals would be enough to win, but that was not the case for Mesquite on Tuesday as they suffered a 7-3 loss to Tyler Lee.
The Skeeters got goals from Christian Alleman, Walter Cavazos and Mario Rodriguez but were unable to slow down district-leading Tyler Lee's offense.
It was the fourth straight loss for Mesquite, who also dropped a 6-0 decision to Rockwall on Friday.
Horn also lost a pair of games this past week, falling to Rockwall on Tuesday (2-0) and Tyler Lee on Friday (1-0).
The Skeeters and Jaguars will meet on Friday, with the loser facing an uphill climb as the midpoint of the 12-5A season approaches.
Horn will then take on Longview on Tuesday.
North Mesquite will try to make a move this week with games against winless Rockwall-Heath on Friday and first-place Tyler Lee on Tuesday.
