Magnuson to seek Place 8 seat

Sally Magnuson, who previously represented Place 4 on the Plano City Council, confirmed Thursday that she intends to seek the Place 8 seat held by Lee Dunlap. David Downs has also announced his intention to seek the seat, which Dunlap is forced to vacate due to term limits.
Magnuson was first elected to the city council in 2002 and served three terms. She was replaced in 2009 by Lissa Smith, who has filed to seek a second term on the council. Smith is currently running unopposed.
The filing deadline for all four council seats up for election -- Mayor, Place 2, Place 4 and Place 8 -- is March 1. Election Day is May 11.
