The Lady Lobos (2-12 in district) finished their season with a tough loss to The Colony (7-7), 49-25.

Little Elm was hoping to finish with a district victory over The Colony, but the Lady Cougars had other plans, with senior Terra Blison leading the charge by posting a game-high 14 points.

The Colony was able to capitalize on early mistakes and failed opportunities by the Lady Lobos. There was a lot of back-and-forth between the two teams, but The Colony seemed to capture early momentum and kept the Lady Lobos off balance with a stifling defense, as well as 10 points from sophomore Libby Waddell.

The low-scoring pace was maintained throughout, but Little Elm was able to force turnovers and looked to close the gap before the half. With neither team getting hot from the field, the Lady Lobos carried a 15-7 deficit into the locker room.

The second half began in similar fashion, but The Colony started to see more shots fall and its defense was keeping Little Elm from gaining any momentum. It was tough for the crowd to ever really get into the contest, even with it being the final home game for Little Elm’s seniors.

“Tonight’s game was just the season in a nutshell,” said Derrick Osborne, Little Elm head coach.

Once the game got late into the third, The Colony began to pull away and make it more of a struggle for Little Elm. The crowd was never really into the game, but still showed support for the Little Elm seniors.

“I love this group and I’m sad to see them go,” Osborne said.

The group of seniors was part of school history by making the finals of the Royse City Tournament early in the season and having a postseason run last year. But at the end, it was just a rough night for the Lady Lobos and a rough season to match.

Following the game there was a ceremony on the court for the seniors who fell short of making the playoffs during their final season at Little Elm.
