Candidates for the Frisco City Council and Frisco ISD Board of Trustees began filing their applications Wednesday.

Because both the City Council and school board stagger their elections, only two council seats and three board positions will be available.

For the City Council, Place 2 and Place 4 will be up for grabs in the May 11 municipal election.

Both current council members in those positions, Jeff Cheney of Place 2 and John Keating of Place 4, have filed to seek re-election. No other candidates have filed for either position yet.

This year's school board race includes Place 1, Place 2 and Place 3.

In the race for Place 1, Bryan Dodson, a sales executive for JP Morgan Chase and community volunteer, filed for election. Brenda Polk, who currently serves as the Place 1 trustee, previously announced she wouldn't seek re-election.

Renée Ehmke, Place 2 trustee and current board president, filed for re-election. Dan Mossakowski, Place 3 trustee and vice president, has yet to file for re-election.

Individuals interested in running for either the City Council or school board have until 5 p.m. March 1 to file for candidacy.
