Lewisville Independent School District (LISD) spans 127-square miles and serves all, or portions of, 13 municipalities. Recently, LISD met with police and fire chiefs from all the communities it serves including Carrollton, Flower Mound, Frisco, Highland Village, Lewisville and The Colony to present its emergency response plan. The 26 first responders who attended the meeting shared feedback and discussed ways to continue collaboration efforts.

"Because student well-being is LISD's top priority, school safety is continuously evaluated and improved," said LISD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Stephen F. Waddell. "Everybody in the meeting felt it was productive and we will continue to meet to ensure emergency response plans remain proactive in keeping our students and staff safe."

As a result of the meeting, the district, police and fire chiefs will begin a partnership for emergency drills that will be used to continuously improve communication and security systems.
