Dowell Middle School student Sara Alani this week traveled to Washington D.C. to take part in the 2013 Presidential Inauguration.
Alani participated in the People to People World Leadership Forum, during which she learned about how iconic leaders have handled world events throughout history. Professional speakers, small-group workshops and visits to memorials, museums and monuments informed her of the importance of inspired world leaders.
"To be part of the Presidential Inauguration is historic," Alani said prior to her visit. "There are so many great events that I will have the opportunity to learn from."
The People to People World Leadership Forum offers students specialized education and cultural exposure through a variety of programs and an itinerary filled with significant information and events of the host community, in this case the nation's capitol. The forum is intended to mold participants' attitudes toward global leadership, cultural diversity and personal responsibility, returning them home with enhanced leadership skills and self confidence.
