11-5A GIRLS TOURNAMENT ROUNDUP: Mustangs win two of three at DISD Tournament

Sachse played three games this past week at the Dallas ISD Coca-Cola Tournament and none of them contained much drama.
All three contests were decided by 27 points or more, but the good news for the Mustangs was that they were on the right side of the scoreboard in two of those.
Sachse had opened play on Thursday with its largest margin of victory of the season, blasting Spruce, 87-10.
As expected with every player getting significant minutes, the scoring was spread out, with seven players in double figures.
Courtney Blankenship, Monica Dorsey and Moriah Reed each scored 12 points, Cynthia Matthews and Alexis Rene had 11 while Lorian Benjamin and Nekiya Jackson each added 10.
Lincoln turned the tables in the second round of the winner's bracket, racing to a 43-15 halftime lead and never looking back in a 69-42 win. Unlike the first game, Rene was the only player in double figures with 10 points.
Sachse closed the tournament on a high note after rolling over South Oak Cliff in a 73-40 win.
The Mustangs opened the game on a 20-9 run and closed it on a 16-3 spurt for good measure. Dorsey had a big game with 23 points, while Makayla Isler and Reed each chipped in with 12.
Sachse (9-11) will return to 11-5A action this week. They play at Garland on Wednesday, have a bye on Saturday and then return home to host South Garland on Tuesday.
ROWLETT
Rowlett was one of the few teams in the area that took an extended break during the holidays, electing not to compete in a tournament.
The Eagles (13-7) will put their undefeated district record on the line with three games this week. They will host South Garland on Wednesday, play at Naaman Forest on Saturday and then return home to face North Garland on Tuesday.
