Based on the 2001 film Legally Blonde starring Reese Witherspoon, Legally Blonde the Musical follows sorority star-turned-law student Elle Woods from the social whirl of California campus life to Harvard University’s halls of justice. FMHS senior Brooklyn Smith is cast as the upbeat Elle who follows ex-boyfriend Warner Huntington III (Ben Hladky) to Harvard only to learn he is dating a more “serious” woman, Vivienne Kensington (Morgan Haney). With chutzpah and a touch of naivete’, Elle wins the admiration of the student body and the love fellow law student Emmett Forrest, played by senior Conner Scallan. The singing and dancing feel-good comedy pumps up the pink with music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin including “Bend and Snap,” “Positive” and “So Much Better.”
Under the direction of Scott Taylor and musical director Dr. Mark Rohwer, over 170 Flower Mound High School students are involved with the all-school musical production on the stage, in the orchestra and with the technical crews. The FMHS performances of Legally Blonde the Musical are produced by special arrangement with Music Theatre International.
