During the Oct. 19 Highland Village City Council meeting, the city finalized the purchase of the property known as the Living Faith United Methodist Church located at 101 Clearwater South, on the northwest corner of Clearwater South and Highland Village Road.
The property, formerly known as Clearwater Club, includes a clubhouse, pool and tennis courts. The city will improve the existing tennis courts and parking area, fill-in the pool, demolish the club house and use the area for The Robert and Lee DuVall facility overflow parking. The city is developing a business plan to contract with a professional tennis organization to manage and program the tennis courts on the property.
"Recreation and community education classes are increasing at The Robert and Lee DuVall Center. The purchase of this property meets the need for overflow parking at The Robert and Lee DuVall Center," said Mayor Pat Davis. "A contract with a professional tennis organization to manage and program the tennis courts will provide a popular leisure activity to our residents while ensuring the city incurs no out of pocket expense."
