Eagles remain perfect on the season
By DEVIN HASSON, dhasson@starlocalnews.com
Rowlett head coach Stan Blackmon said prior to the season that he had high hopes for the season.
Not only were the Eagles coming off a solid year in which they advanced to the area finals, they were returning several key players, including three--Jeffrey Carroll, Nathan Hawkins and Austin Luke--who signed letters of intent to play at the collegiate level.
But even Blackmon might be a little surprised by just how well Rowlett has played to start the year.
Rowlett, which was coming off an impressive performance at the Allen Tournament, actually fell behind early and was still down 33-30 at halftime.
But the Eagles took control from there, using a 19-6 spurt in the third quarter that proved to be the difference in the game.
Hawkins led all scorers with 21 points, with Carroll adding 18 and Luke chipping in with 15.
Rowlett will look to extend its winning streak on Friday when it plays host to Little Elm.
