Rowlett knows perfection will likely not last forever, but it will take an undefeated record into the Christmas holiday after posting a 58-48 victory over Sachse on Friday.

The Eagles improve to 14-0 overall and 1-0 in 11-5A play.

Rowlett joined Lakeview and Naaman Forest as winners on the opening day of the district season.

The Eagles had a tough time with a scrappy Mustangs bunch. They took the early lead but were up only 33-29 at halftime.

The third quarter made a big difference, as Rowlett was able to use a 16-9 run to open some space and then held on until the end.

Jeffrey Carroll scored 23 points to lead all scorers, while Nathan Hawkins added nine. A.J. Goss scored 13 points and Josh Robertson chipped in with 11 to lead Sachse, which slipped to 5-7 overall.

The teams will compete in holiday tournaments on Thursday through Saturday before resuming district play next week.
