William E. (Gene) Guest
William E. (Gene) Guest of Sherman, Texas, passed away December 18, 2012, at the age of 92. He was born December 3, 1920, in Detroit, Texas, in Red River County.
He was raised in Vivian, Louisiana and attended school in Vivian. Mr. Guest married Lorene Estep Wheeler on November 22, 1969. Mr. Guest was a resident of north Louisiana for many years. He retired as the business manager and financial secretary/treasurer for the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 141 of Shreveport and North West Louisiana.

Following his retirement in 1984, Gene and Lorene moved to Texarkana, Texas, and then to Sherman, Texas. Mr. Guest was a 32nd Degree Mason, Shriner, and veteran of World War II. He served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945.

Mr. Guest is survived by his stepson and daughter-in-law, Leon and Renate Wheeler of Fort Worth, Texas; three granddaughters, Amy Elizabeth James of Cassville, Missouri, Cheryl Wheeler of Carrollton, Texas, and Ashleigh Wheeler of Fort Worth, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Savannah James; sister, Doris Cole of Ben Wheeler, Texas; niece, Marion Vinson and husband Clay of Richardson, Texas; nephews, Danny Cole and wife Jill of Shreveport, Louisiana, Michael and wife Tricia of Dallas, Texas, and Tommy Cole and his wife Donna of Ben Wheeler, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Lorene Estep Guest, who passed on July 9, 2012.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 20, 2012, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas, with Dr. Danny Buster officiating. Interment is to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. Family and friends were invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Wednesday to pay their respects and to sign the register book.
