Chargers complete perfect regular season
By DEVIN HASSON, dhasson@starlocalnews.com
Dallas Christian had one final hurdle in its quest for an undefeated regular season.
The only thing standing in its way was a Trinity Christian-Cedar Hill team that entered the game without a victory in TAPPS 2-II play.
That last trend continued on Friday as Alex Craig threw four touchdown passes and D'Andre Cannon added a pair of scores on the ground as the Chargers rolled to a 45-16 victory.
Dallas Christian came out strong, as Craig hooked up with Justis Nelson on a 53-yard touchdown pass and Cannon scored from 27 yards out to give them a 14-0 lead.
Cedar Hill struck back with a big play when Garrick Williams broke loose for a 71-yard score to cut the deficit in half.
And while Trinity Christian would score three more times, they were limited to field goals and that would play a big difference in the Chargers' ability to pull away.
Cannon scored on a 46-yard touchdown run, and following a field goal by Cedar Hill, Craig threw a 41-yard scoring strike to Will Morgan and Jarrod Collins kicked a field goal to give them a 31-10 halftime lead.
Dallas Christian wasted no time in squashing any hopes of a comeback when it opened the third quarter with an 80-yard touchdown pass from Craig to Nelson. Craig would later throw another scoring pass to Hayden Baker, and while Cedar Hill did kick a couple of field goals, it was not near enough to make up the difference.
