Highland Village council approves District of Highland Village

Published: Wednesday, December 12, 2012 12:04 PM CST
At Tuesday's meeting, the Highland Village City Council unanimously approved the second reading of a new development plan for The District of Highland Village, located at the northwest corner of FM 407 and Briarhill Boulevard.

The approved plan moves the development from a retail and townhome development to a mixed-use development with retail, office and multi-family components.

The council also approved two resolutions related to street improvements and maintenance. The first resolution approves a contract with XIT Paving in the amount of $140,615 for the removal and replacement of a portion of Silverthorne Trail at its intersection with Tartan Trail and the installation of an underdrain and pipe system in Shetland Drive near Silverthorne Trail to address a groundwater seepage issue.

The second resolution approves a contract with BW2 Engineers for the engineering and surveying of a new asphalt overlay on the Highland Village Road at the intersection between Brazos Boulevard and Highland Shores Boulevard and the intersection of Sellmeyer Drive and the section between Lakeland Drive and Copperas Branch Court.

During the city manager report, the HVTV update holiday informed residents of holiday safety tips from the Highland Village Police Department, the Eye on Highland Village app, and Highland Village ePerks.

The update also informed residents of the Resolution Run; a 5K Run/Walk & 2K Four-Legged Friend Run presented by the city and the Highland Village Parks Foundation. Presenting sponsors for the race this year include the Medical Center of Lewisville, Terra Firma Racing and ABC Pest Control.
