Wakeland senior kicker Cameron McGuire
Field goals don’t get any tougher than a 44-yard attempt as time expires with your team trailing by one point.
Wakeland senior kicker Cameron McGuire faced that exact situation Friday night against district foe Prosper and delivered his fourth field goal of the night to give the Wolverines a 26-24 victory.
“We know [McGuire] can make them,” said Marty Secord, Wakeland head coach. “He’s a weapon for us.”
The senior booted in field goals from 27, 24, 41 and 44 yards away to put Wakeland’s season mark at 5-1 and 2-1 against District 9-4A counterparts. McGuire and the Wolverines will look to stay on the winning track tonight against defending champion Centennial.
