BOYS BASKETBALL: Wranglers, Jaguars sprint to victories

West Mesquite stepped on the gas and never looked back on Friday as it raced to a 101-80 victory over Greenville in non-district play.
The Wranglers exploded with 36 points in the opening frame to grab a commanding 22-point advantage.
Greenville chipped away in the second quarter, but West Mesquite scored 51 points in the second half to maintain a comfortable lead.
West Mesquite is scheduled to be one of the few teams in action during the holiday weekend as it will compete in the Thanksgiving Hoopfest on Friday.
Horn opened the game with a 25-7 run and Molina could never recover in a 80-61 victory on Friday.
The Jaguars got 23 points from Anthony Sharp, 13 from John McMiller and 11 by Alan Hodge.
Horn played Red Oak on Tuesday and will travel to face Lake Highlands on Tuesday.
Rowlett got 28 points from Jeffrey Carroll as they went on to a 61-46 win over Carrollton Ranchview on Friday.
The Eagles led 28-23 at halftime, but then outscored Ranchview 21-12 in the third to give them some breathing room. In addition to Carroll, Derrick Davis and Austin Luke scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.
North Mesquite and Sachse were even through four quarters, but the Stallions took control in overtime to pull out a 61-55 win on Friday.
The Mustangs came out strong in opening a 16-7 lead after one quarter, but North Mesquite quickly countered and tied it at 27-27 at halftime. Sachse again jumped in front, taking a six-point lead to the fourth quarter, but the Stallions again answered to force overtime.
This time, it was North Mesquite's turn to make a run, as it held the Mustangs to just two points in the extra frame to secure the victory.
Norman Alexander scored 16 points and Mike Williams had 15 for the Stallions. Sachse had four players in double figures, as Michael Olivares had 17 points, Kachi Onyia scored 14 and A.J. Goss and Jake Gross each added 10.
North Mesquite played Rowlett on Tuesday and will face Molina on the road on Monday.
Mesquite led through three quarters but could not hold on late in a 42-35 loss to Colleyville Heritage on Friday.
The Skeeters led 12-9 in a low-scoring first half, and maintained that three-point lead going to the fourth. But Heritage finally broke out with a 22-12 spurt and Mesquite could not keep up.
Davion Keys led the Skeeters with 11 points, with Cadarius Vault chipping in with nine.
Mesquite stayed busy prior to the Thanksgiving break, with games against Plano on Monday and Lake Highlands on Tuesday.
