The Flower Mound Town Council is expected to vote on three items Monday that, if approved, would get the Lakeside DFW project closer to reality.

Lakeside DFW is a 150-acre, mixed-use project that would be located near the intersection of FM 2499 and Lakeside Parkway, backing up to portions of Grapevine Lake.

The council will vote on a zoning change and a land use change.

The third item will be to amend the thoroughfare plan to change Lakeside Parkway from 265 feet west of International Parkway to the southernmost traffic circle to an Urban Minor Arterial with On-Street Parking. Officials say making the road more pedestrian-friendly is key to this project's success.

Monday, the planning and zoning commission unanimously approved the items. Residents spoke in favor and in opposition of the project. Some applauded the project for the potential upscale restaurants and retail options it could bring. Others questioned whether the retail/restaurants could be supported and feared the project would end up with only apartments.
