How often does Plano host a world premiere of a new, Broadway-worthy musical? Let's see--maybe never?

It's no secret that Plano produces world-class talent. But mounting a completely original, musical comedy play featuring Plano talent in Plano is rare. Starting Friday night, November 9 at the Pfamily Arts Theatre, "Give Me A Break" makes its world debut with three of the principal roles played by actors from Plano, including Tori Hudson, Quinn Angell and Stuart Neef. All three of these talented actors study at Collin County Community College.

The two-act, pop-rock musical, is a funny, raucous yet touching story about a rock band's arrival at a crucial crossroads, rendered chaotic by a turbulent mix of women's lib, sexual freedom, hallucinogenic drugs, STDs and an offer they can't--or won't--refuse. It's the 1970s in Dallas. Rock band Pulsar5 collectively yearns to attain rock stardom, but they diverge on how far they are willing to go to achieve it.

In addition to preparing for the premiere production, the cast has recorded the 19-song soundtrack that will be available at the show's performances. "It's been a wonderful journey to bring our creation to life, musically and theatrically," said Barbara McMillen, project co-creator. "All of the songs in the show are original, and beautifully performed by our talented cast."

Single releases of selected songs are currently downloadable through iTunes. The full "Give Me A Break" soundtrack album will be available on iTunes later this month.

The premiere production of "Give Me A Break" will perform on November 9th - 18th, 2012 at the Pfamily Arts in Plano, Tx. Designed to be a touring show, the show will perform in Austin, Tx at the Dougherty Arts Center Theater on January 25 - 27, 2013. Additional Texas tour stops will be announced in the coming weeks. The rock musical has adult situations and the producers of the show recommend parental guidance.

The Pfamily Arts Theatre is located at 4017 Preston Road #544; LakeSide Market, Plano, Tx.
