Local Filmmaker’s Documentary Receives National Attention

The heart-wrenching, short documentary, A Tale of 2 Soldiers, has been invited to be shown at two prestigious film festivals:  The Asheville Cinema Festival in North Carolina and the GI Film Festival in Hollywood, California.

A true story of tragedy, courage and inspiration, A Tale of 2 Soldiers, tells the story of a medic’s struggle to save his friend’s life after stepping on an IED (Improvised Explosive Device} in Afghanistan. The video was selected by the festivals because of it’s powerful, gripping look into the realities of war and its affects on the young heroes fighting to protect our freedom.

Mickey Stroud, a McKinney filmmaker, shot, edited and directed the piece while doing volunteer work with the Wish For Our Heroes organization.  Stroud became involved with filmmaking in the 80’s when he directed TV commercials for MJDesigns. He has now done over 200 commercials, a National TV show on the Lifetime Network,  numerous corporate and music videos as well as a full feature documentary called “Looking For Love in Foreign Places.”

“I knew this was a special project, when shortly after meeting Dustin, I asked him why he became a Medic. His reply shocked me, “I was a Special Forces Sniper…this is going to sound corny… but… I just got tired … of killing people.”

“One of my goals in telling this story is to have Dustin feel an audience’s response to his and Ski’s story. He really doesn’t know what a hero he is. He is a bigger than life, a John Wayne type of character… except he’s for real.”

The video is made even more powerful by the music which was provided by 4 times Platinum award winning C&W singer, Collin Raye, who met Dustin and SPC Tim Senkowski during the filming. Collin Raye a major star of the 90’s recently played a concert at the McKinney Arts Center.

SFC Dustin Wisdom, and Mickey will do Q&A sessions after both showings.
