Early voting begins Monday: Ballots can be placed in any county location during early voting

The only early voting location in Frisco for Denton County residents is Fire Station 7, although Denton County residents can vote anywhere in the county during early voting. On Election Day, voters will have to vote in their precinct. Photo by Kelsey Kruzich.

Frisco residents looking to cast their ballot for the presidential election as well as more local matters can do so in early voting, which begins Monday and lasts until Nov. 2.

Besides the presidential election, residents across the state will be voting for U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison's replacement. That race is between Republican nominee Ted Cruz, Democratic nominee Paul Sadle, Libertarian candidate John Jay Myers and Green Party nominee David B. Collins.

For the state senate, Collin County voters will choose between Republican state Rep. Ken Paxton, Democratic candidate Jack Ternan and Libertarian candidate Ed Kless. Denton County voters will choose either Republican incumbent Jane Nelson or her Libertarian opponent, John A. Betz Jr.

Voters will also be choosing judges and some other elected officials, depending on where they live, when submitting their ballots.

In addition to voting for elected officials, Frisco residents will vote in a local option election that will determine whether alcoholic beverages can be sold in territories that have been annexed since the last wet/dry election.

While Election Day voting hours will last from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., early voting hours will vary based on three time frames.

From Oct. 22 to Oct. 27, early voting will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Oct. 28, those hours will change to 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. In the final time period in which early voting is allowed, from Oct. 29 to Nov. 2, voting hours will be the same as they will be during Election Day, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

During early voting, Frisco residents who live in Denton County may vote at any Denton County voting location. That practice will change on Election Day, however, when Denton County voters will be required to vote in their precinct.

For early voting, only one location in Frisco will be available to Denton County voters: Fire Station 7, located at 330 W. Stonebrook Parkway.

Collin County voters will be able to vote at any Collin County polling location during both early voting and Election Day.

Early voting in Collin County will have two locations in Frisco, the Collin College Preston Ridge Campus, located at 9700 Wade Blvd., and the Senior Center at Frisco Square, located at 6670 Moore St.

If residents did not register to vote by Oct. 9, they will not be able to vote early or on Election Day.

A full list of voting locations in Frisco for both Denton County and Collin County can be seen at www.friscotexas.com/gov.
