A male driver is in stable condition after running his vehicle into the corner of a moving truck at the intersection of Jupiter Road and Plano Parkway around 9 a.m. Friday morning.
The motorist - who was only described as a white or Hispanic male in his early 20s - was driving at a high rate of speed when his vehicle struck an SUV and collided into the back end of a truck in the eastbound lane of Plano Parkway, according to police.
A patrol officer traveling westbound on Plano Parkway saw a white Nissan sedan traveling eastbound at around 70 mph. The officer turned around to follow the sedan and by the time he reached the intersection of Jupiter and Plano Parkway, the driver's side of the sedan had already hit the back corner of the moving truck head on, said Officer David Tilley of the Plano Police Department.
Lanes at the intersection were cleared around 11 a.m. after tow trucks pried the vehicle out from under the back corner of the truck. No other injuries were reported.
Police believe the driver of the vehicle was attempting to squeeze between the truck and an SUV in the right-hand turn lane, said Tilley, who was surprised to hear the driver had survived.
"He never slowed down, we're not sure what his intent was," Tilley said.
