Dovie Ellen Shaw, age 94, of Midland, Texas passed away on August 30, 2012.
She was born on April 1, 1918 in Celina, Texas to Berta Mae Hays and George Harper Smith.On December 5, 1942, Dovie married John Shaw in El Paso, Texas.
Dovie is survived by her son, John W. Shaw, Jr. of Midland, Texas; four grandchildren, Shelly North Tanner and her husband, Scott of Plano, Texas, Jason Shaw and his wife, Jeannene of Olathe, Kansas, Captain John W. Shaw, III of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Anita Cobb and her husband, Josh of Fort Worth, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Eli North, Katelyn Shaw, Jillian Shaw, and Sydney Tanner.
Dovie is preceded in death by her husband, John W. Shaw, two sisters, and five brothers.
A funeral service was held at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Celina on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Doug Miller officiating. The family received friends during a visitation at the funeral home in Celina on Monday, September 3, 2012 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Interment will be held at Cottage Hill Cemetery on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cottage Hill Methodist Church.
