Applications now being accepted for Vista Ridge Mall's cash-for-schools program for 2012-13

With the start of the 2012-13 school year, Vista Ridge Mall announces that applications are being accepted for schools to participate in the shopping center's A+ REWARDS. Formerly called My School's Cool, A+ REWARDS is the shopping center's newly revamped community program that makes it easier for schools to win a portion of the total $20,000 in cash prizes that will be awarded to participating schools during the 2012-13 school year.
Public and private schools located in the Coppell and Lewisville independent school districts are invited to apply. Applications are due by Sunday, Sept. 16.
The new A+ REWARDS offers schools two different ways to receive cash rewards:
* END-OF-YEAR AWARDS: Schools compete for the highest accumulation of points during the school year to earn a share of the remaining $15,000 cash reward.
Each school participating in A+ REWARDS signs a pledge committing to program participation. The pledge will promote honesty and accountability on the part of the participating schools.
The deadline to enroll is Sunday, September 16, but schools are advised that receipts dated Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012 to Sunday, May 12 can be submitted for points.
"The point accrual program started Aug. 1, so shoppers are advised to dig out those receipts for August back-to-school purchases from the mall and redeem them for points," said Leanne Lowry, general manager for Vista Ridge Mall. "With our new six-week award, we want to be certain that everyone remembers to turn in their receipts for points on a timely basis. We are going to award $1,000 to one school each six-week period, for the first five grading periods of the school year. The drawing will be random, and every school that has at least 100 points will be entered to win."
At the end of the 2012-13 school year, cash prizes totaling $15,000 will be awarded to the schools with the most points per student. Total points earned by a participating school will be divided by student enrollment in order to allow all schools, regardless of their size, to compete fairly.

Application forms for the 2012-13 school year are available on the Vista Ridge Mall website at www.vistaridgemall.com or can be picked up at the Mall Management Office.
