Helicopter drop creates buzz for local charity
From staff reports
While Children’s Advocacy Center for Denton County’s Golf Tournament is in its 17th year, this year’s event is different. The addition of a helicopter drop, sponsored by Freedom Title of Flower Mound, brings added buzz to the tournament on Sept. 13.
This attraction consists of golf balls, sold before and during the event, being dropped from a helicopter hovering over Lantana Golf Club’s putting green in between the tournament’s two flights at approximately 1:30 p.m.
The numbered ticket corresponding with the first golf ball in or near the targeted hole will win a 60-inch television.
With recent coverage of their $100,000 funding loss from government and United Way grants, this year’s golf tournament is essential to their fundraising efforts.
Helicopter Drop Ball tickets are on sale now on the CACDC website and are available for the general public. Winner needs not be present to win. Player and sponsorship spots are still available for the afternoon flight, as well.
