Staff reports
At approximately 8:35 a.m., a Carrollton Police Department patrol officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver refused to stop. After a short pursuit, the driver stopped the car and fled into a residence in the 2000 block of Rose Hill Road and refused to exit. SWAT and Crisis Negotiators were call to the location. The residents who live in the home exited and told officers that their friend, James Ronald Coye, 26, was the person refusing to come out. The incident ended peacefully just prior to 1 p.m. when Coye attempted to flee out of a window. Coye was captured in the yard. Coye had outstanding arrest warrants from Collin County for drug related charges and from Dallas County for possession of prohibited weapon and escape. Coye was transported to the Dallas County jail where he was also charged with Evading with a Vehicle and Fail to Identify – Fugitive.
