Mesquite police investigate early morning homicide

At about 7 a.m., Mesquite Police responded to an apartment in the 2300 block of Driftwood on an assistance for the fire department call. Arriving officers found a deceased 36 year old male at the location.
Initial investigation indicates that the deceased and the suspect, who are neighbors, had been drinking together overnight. There was a disturbance between the two men, and the suspect assaulted the victim, resulting in his death.
The suspect, 26 year old Chad Brown, was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Mesquite Police Department for questioning.
