Former Lobo may leave Cowboys camp
BY CHRIS O'DELL, codell@starlocalnews.com
Former Little Elm standout wide receiver Cole Beasley might not return to Dallas Cowboys training camp due to personal issues.
Beasley, who was signed by Dallas as an undrafted free agent out of Southern Methodist University, did not participate in Friday's afternoon practice but was on the field for the morning walkthrough earlier in the day.
According to reports, Beasley informed the club he is leaving the team and might also quit football. The Cowboys seem to want Beasley to stay and Cowboys Vice President Stephen Jones wasn't ready to give up on the former Mustang just yet.
The former Lobo had a successful rookie minicamp and figured to be in the mix for a backup receiver spot for the Cowboys and a likely member of the 53-man roster.
The Cowboys have not made an official statement on the situation yet, but Beasley would become the second player to leave Cowboys camp for personal reasons after tight end John Nalbone recently returned home.
Check next week's Little Elm Journal for more on Beasley's possible departure from the Cowboys.
