Four homes burglarized in McKinney neighborhood

Published: Thursday, August 2, 2012 10:09 PM CDT
Police are searching for the suspect(s) in a string of residential burglaries that occurred early Sunday morning in the Isleworth subdivision in western McKinney.

Shortly before 12:30 a.m. July 28, police responded to the first of four burglaries they believe were pulled off by the same suspect(s). One burglary occurred at a residence on Isleworth Lane, and the other three, all reported up until mid-afternoon Sunday, happened at homes on Harbor Town Drive, the cross street to the north of Isleworth.

"The homeowners had just been at dinner and returned to discover their house had been burglarized," Deputy Chief Scott Brewer said of the first reported burglary.

Between the burglaries, the unknown suspect(s) stole family valuables, jewelry, a gun safe and a handgun for a combined monetary loss of more than $100,000. Some of the homeowners were out of town at the time their homes were burglarized.

All burglaries shared characteristics, including the overnight timeframe, leading police to assume a common suspect or suspects. Forced entry was made through the back door and items were taken primarily from the master bedroom and master bathroom at each residence.

Witnesses told police they saw an unknown white male driving an unfamiliar vehicle, a dark-colored Hummer, in the subdivision during the timeframe the burglaries presumably occurred, Brewer said.

"It's a real small, tight-knit neighborhood, so fortunately anything suspicious sticks out to residents there," he said. "It's safe to say we believe these were all related."

The McKinney Police Department has requested that anyone with information regarding these and other criminal offenses contact Detective Ray Clark at 972-547-2718.

" I presume most if not ALL these burglarized homes in Isleworth had monitored alarm systems? So, when the first home with an alarm was broken into, where were the McK cops?
It is understandable that one home in a 'tight-knit neighborhood' as Brewer puts it, could be hit but four is not fathomable if the cops were doing their jobs. "
