Flower Mound's Bair makes national climbing team
Flower Mound resident Lauren Bair, a student at McKamy Middle School, was recently selected to the USA National Climbing Team. It is the second time Bair has been selected to the squad.
Bair was chosen on the strength of her performances at the USA Climbing Nationals in Atlanta, Ga. Bair picked up silver in the speed competition and bronze in the sport climbing category. The competition featured finalists from all five national divisional regions.
Basketball camp
The Young Stars Summer Break Basketball Camp will take place Aug. 13-16 at the Fred Herring Recreation Center located at 191 Civic Circle in Lewisville. The camp will run Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The camp is for all youth between the ages of 8-12. Dribbling, shooting, passing and defensive skills will be taught. Additionally, life skills along with sportsmanship and basketball rules will stressed. Knowledge of the game to include individual and team drills, physical conditioning and a personal workout program will be emphasized. Prizes and awards will be given to top achievers and performers and free lunch is provided daily from Chick-Fil-A.
Coach Bernard Scott is an NCAA Division I Official and previously coached TAPPS varsity basketball. The camp fee is $95 per youth. For information, call: 972-219-3560.
Labor Day Rodeo returns
The City of Lewisville and the Lewisville Saddle Club will be hosting its annual Labor Day Rodeo Aug. 31-Sept. 1 at the Lewisville Rodeo Grounds. The professional rodeo includes bareback bronco riding, saddle bronco riding, women's breakaway roping, tie down calf roping, steer wrestling, team roping, women's barrel racing, junior barrel racing (12U), bull riding, a kids calf scramble (10U) and mutton busting (8U). Concession will be available. The Stock Contractor for this year is Flying C Rodeo Company and the Red River Shooting Stars Drill Team will perform nightly. The rodeo starts at 8 p.m. nightly with gates opening at6 p.m. The cost is $8 for adults (12 and over) and $6 for children (5-11). Parking is $2 per vehicle.

Aug. 27 from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. for timed events.
Aug. 27 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. for junior barrels (214-534-8440).
Aug. 28 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. for rough stock and team roping.
