Concert set for Fathers' Day
Known for their precision, perfection and riveting performance, the Crossmen World Class Drum and Bugle Corps will kick-off its U.S. summer tour with a Father's Day concert in Southlake Town Square. The second annual "Showcase in the Square" will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 17 at Rustin Park Pavilion. Admission is free but donations are welcome. The public is encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to the event.
In addition to the Father's Day concert, spectators will be able to witness the Crossmen's practice regimen at Carroll High School June 17 at 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The school and surrounding three football fields will serve as a housing and practice location for the performers.
Southlake public works staff have begun reconstructing various segments of S. White Chapel Boulevard from State Hwy.1709 south to Continental Boulevard. Weather permitting, the anticipated completion date for the construction work is June 8.
South White Chapel Boulevard will remain open to local and through traffic during the designated construction hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Whenever possible, seek alternative routes to avoid anticipated traffic delays.

New online job application system continues
Applying for a job at the city of Southlake just got easier. With the launch of NEOGOV, the city has a system that joins state and local agencies across the country in accepting employment applications online.
Applicants will use this new system much like many of the other job search sites, by creating a user profile with all their relevant information and work history. Because of the secure server, applicant information can be saved at any point and retrieved later, right where the user left off in the process. Another benefit of NEOGOV is that applicants can use this same information to apply for jobs with the city of Southlake and also with more than 800 other public sector and education organizations nationwide that use this system. The new system also eliminates the need for paper applications.
If applicants are interested in jobs that are not open, they can fill out a job interest card to alert them by email when a new job they are interested in is posted. Now, potential applicants can receive news of any opening when it occurs instead of needing to check the city's website each week.
For applicant convenience, the system can be accessed from any computer with internet access 24 hours a day, 365 days a year through www.cityofsouthlakejobs.com. In addition computer kiosks are available in the human resources office during regular business hours.
