RAINS
Clifford Wendell Rains
Clifford Wendell Rains, age 83, passed away May 24, 2012 following a brief illness.
Wendell was born in Vickery, Texas, January 27, 1929 to Clifford N. and Mayme J. Crosby Rains.
Wendell retired from General Motors in 1983 after 30 years of service and served in the United States Army during the Korean War (1950 -- 1953). He received a Purple Heart due to combat injuries; a Bronze Star and the Combat Infantry Badge.
Wendell married Billye Nash, October 24, 1953 in Roanoke. Wendell and Billye were charter member's of the Lewisville VFW Lodge 9168. Wendell also served as an Elder in the Lewisville Bible Church.
Wendell was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Scotty Rains of Lewisville.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Billye Rains of Honey Grove; son, Gaylon Rains and his wife, Cindi of Henderson and their children, Jason, Dustin, Stephen and Carli; daughter, Dana Smart and her husband, Dale of Argyle and their children, Ashley, Leah and Heath; 16 great-grandchildren;
sisters, Edna Earle Waite of Lewisville and Helen Gorman of Houston; brothers, Doyle Rains of Pearland and Ronnie Rains of Honey Grove, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 26, 2012 in the chapel of Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home. Pastor Ken Rogers of Lewisville Bible Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Old Hall Cemetery with Rev. Brandon Autry officiating.
Memorial contributions can be made in Wendell's honor to the Lewisville Bible Church or Direct Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
