Angel Food ministries

Button Memorial United Methodist Church hosts Angel Food ministries. The ministry provides food to anyone. There is no income requirement. For $30 a box of 14 to 15 items to feed a family of 4 for 2 weeks is available. Other boxes of meat and vegetable items are available for $20 to $24. Water conservation

The town of Little Elm is under phase one conservation. No watering between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. By not watering during these times more water soaks into the ground instead of being evaporated during the heat of the day. It also helps to preserve Lake Lavon's water levels.

Little Elm Library book sale

Little Elm Public Library is holding a book sale on July 10, 12 and 13. There will be a book store within the library. New children's books will be for sale as well as other reading essentials such as pencils, erasers and other fun stuff. Hours on July 10 will be 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., July 12, 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and July 12, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Lobo Club

The Lobo Club is accepting proposals for vending rights to the spirit shop located in the Little Elm Athletic Complex. Proposals will be accepted via email only for businesses in existence for at least two years. Email proposals to bwakefield@leisd.ws. Deadline is July 13, 2010.

Lobo Club Executive Meeting

The Lobo Club executive meeting will be held at 6:45 p.m. on July 14 in the lecture hall in the Little Elm High School.

Denton County burn permits

The disposal of vegetation by open burning is permitted in unincorporated Denton County and in some cities (unincorporated areas) but only on a day that has been determined to be a “good burn day.” The burn day status is determined each morning about 8 a.m. Residents of unincorporated areas of the county are now required to purchase a controlled burn permit prior to open outdoor burning. Contact the Denton county Emergency Services office at 940-349-2840 for information on how to obtain a burn permit.

LEISD summer hours

The Little Elm ISD administrative offices and campuses have begun different hours for the summer months. Staff will be available to conduct business with the public Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Offices and schools, with the exception of those operating summer school, will be closed each Friday. All offices will resume a Monday-Friday work week on Monday, August 2.

Little Elm senior shindig

On the third Friday of every month Little Elm seniors meet for a jam session starting at 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. at the Little Elm Community Center. This month's shindig is May 21. For information call Missy Meador at 972-731-3296.

Courthouse-on-the-Square Museum lecture

Denton watercolorist Jo Williams will lecture on “Pioneers in Modernism” in the commissioners courtroom at the Courthouse-on-the-Square at 110 West Hickory Street in downtown Denton on July 16 at 1 p.m. Her lecture will explore women artists of TWU from the 1920s through the 1970s.

Jet Ski Adventure

The 6th annual Jet Ski Adventure and Dinner benefiting the Little Elm Area Food Bank will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on August 7. Ride your way through the pit stops on Lake Lewisville or by road to get your game card stamped. Raffles will be held and prizes given at the Hidell's finish point where drinks and dinner will be served. A $25 required donation per person will pay for dinner and refreshments. Everyone is welcome. Come to ride, play and eat. For information call Bill and Lynn Hidell at 214-215-7720.
