Softball: Farmers have rough start in San Marcos
BY JUSTIN THOMAS, JThomas@acnpapers.com
Lewisville’s softball team hasn’t gotten out to the start it would have liked this weekend at the San Marcos Tournament as the Farmers dropped their qualifying game Thursday night against Hutto, 13-3.
The Farmers will continue in the Copper Bracket Saturday, with games at 8 and 9:40 a.m.
Lewisville went 1-2 during pool play Thursday, including a 10-1 win against Yoakum. Pool play games are timed contests that don’t count toward a teams’ record.
The game against Hutto, however, was a full-length contest in which the Farmers did hit well, early.
“We started off fine,” Alexander said. “We were tied, 2-2, after the first inning. But we started leaving balls up in the middle of the plate and they were getting tagged. We also had a tough time in the field with a lot of errors.”
