BY JUSTIN THOMAS, JThomas@acnpapers.com
Flower Mound’s hockey team dropped both of its contests against Plano Senior this week in a best-of-3 series.
The Jaguars lost Tuesday in the first matchup, 7-3, before falling Thursday, 4-3.
Flower Mound continues at 8:45 p.m. Monday against Jesuit at the Dr Pepper StarCenter in Euless.
Plano jumped out to a 4-0 advantage before holding off Flower Mound, who reduced the margin to as close as 5-3.
Jonathan Thompson scored four goals for Plano, while Sean O’Conner, Trent Singletary and Jake Newton posted goals for Flower Mound.
In Game 2 on Thursday, it was the Jaguars who struck first, courtesy of a goal by Singletary.
However, Plano responded by scoring three of the next four goals to lead, 3-2.
Jake Newton found the back of the net on a shorthanded goal to pull Flower Mound even late in the second period, but Plano’s Erik Wilkins scored the eventual game-winner 2:28 into the third.
The Wildcats controlled the action in this contest, outshooting the Jaguars, 41-25. Bryan Mills made 37 saves for Flower Mound.
