Drum up classes, things to read at Little Elm Public Library

By Tina Hager
Years go, I had saved up snowballs from a January snowfall so I could surprise my daughter with them in July. Needless to say it surprised our neighbors as well. So did the rabbit on a leash but that is another story. Well, this year I put some snowballs in the freezer again to show my granddaughter when she comes for a visit in December. Funny thing is that my snowballs are shrinking in the freezer. I will be lucky if they last to the end of February. I think I had put my other snowballs in plastic where as the current snowballs are loose. For those of you who need to conduct science experiments, this might be an idea for an experiment. Please let me know your results.
One thing that is always good to do no matter what the weather is to read. Bestsellers added to the collection this week include “Blood Ties” by Kay Hooper; “Roses” by Leila Meacham; and “ Kisser” by Stuart Woods.
The “Don’t Forget to Feed Me” Pet food initiative drive has ended and I want to thank everyone who donated items. The library collected over 21 pounds of food and other miscellaneous items that will be distributed to the Little Elm Food Bank and the Little Elm Animal Shelter. This was a partnership project between the library, food bank, and animal shelter and we all appreciate your generosity. Though the drive is over, please remember that the need is always there. Please also keep in mind that the Little Elm Animal shelter is always in need of pet cleaning supplies such as bleach, kitty litter, and paper towels.
On February 27, AARP will be holding their safe driving class at 10 a.m. Registration is required. The cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for nonmembers. There is still room so call the library at 214-975-0430 to reserve your spot today. The business/craft fair is going on that same day at 11am. Vendors include handmade jewelry by Enchanted Dragonfly; Ms. Linda (wire wrap); Bev’s Designs; and Ms. Mely. Other vendors include Woodhaven Creations; Party on Music band and drum school (will have a drum kit set up for people to hear him play); Energy Solutions of North Texas; 31 Gifts; Ms Judy (handmade crafts); Raine-Bow Boutique (handmade hair bows); Ms. Hydee (personalized children’s books); United States Census Bureau; ADS Tax Service; Tulle Box Derby (handmade crocheted accessories for little ones); and Ardriana’s Tamales.
Come visit the library any time Monday/Wednesday 10am-5:30pm; Tuesday/Thursday 10am-8pm or Saturday 10am-3pm. We look forward to seeing you.
