Read about Texas fickle weather at the library

By Tina Hager

What is hot, cold, hot, cold, hot, cold? Texas weather of course. I predict we will get one type of snow event in either January or February. Believe it or not, I have actually seen a very light snow fall in July one year but it was gone as soon as it appeared. One thing I like to do when we get the rare thing called snow is to make a couple of snowballs, put them in the freezer, and then take them out in July and play catch. It is very important to be careful when tossing them because they are very hard (duhhh). While we are making predictions, who wants to guess if the Ground hog is going to see its shadow? Talk about forecasting…

No matter what the weather, you can depend on the library to add more materials for you to check out. Hot new bestsellers added are the audio “100 Ways to Simplify Your Life” by Joyce Meyer; “The Charlemagne Pursuit” by Steve Berry; and “Your Heart Belongs to Me” by Dean Koontz. New items added include Complete CPR and Basic First Aid DVD’s.

Team up and join the Friends of the Library annual Trivia contest being held, Jan. 27 at the Lakeside Junior High. Doors open at 6 p.m. Trivia is one of the fun and exciting events of Little Elm that you won’t want to miss. For more information visit the Friends website at www.littleelmfol.org, contact the library at 214-975-0430 or email library@littleelm.org. We are also looking for donations that can be used as drawing prizes or businesses who would like to be a sponsor for the event. There is a traveling trophy that can be won as well.

Shopping is a necessity and if you like to shop at Kroger you can help the Friends of the Library raise money for the Little Elm Library. Either drop by the library and pick up the Kroger customer letter or visit the site at www.krogerneighbortoneighbor.com, click on Find Your Organization and type in Little Elm Friends of the Library, print off the customer letter and take it with you the next time you shop at Kroger. We appreciate your support.

For more information about anything call the library at 214-975-0430 or email library@littleelm.org.

Tina Hager is director of the Little Elm Public Library.
