Visit library for Blowout Book Bonanza sale

By Tina Hager

You know your kids are growing up when…they get married, which is exactly what my daughter did last Saturday. It was a very simple Justice of the Peace wedding. My daughter was truly a beautiful bride. Her husband is in the Marines so he was able to wear his uniform for the ceremony. Afterwards there was a reception at one of their favorite restaurants in which most of the attendees were family. My daughter had plenty of help with everything considering she has me (real mom) and two stepmoms, and a new mom-in-law. She and her husband will be leaving the end of this month to live in Arizona so I am not really looking forward to the holidays but thank goodness for cell phones and computers.

Though the library is not moving, we are trying to move a few things out. That is why we are having a BIG BLOWOUT BOOK BONANZA on November 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.. There will also be videos and audios for sale and anything else I can find that we do not need. The price is right for all budgets because you can purchase what you want and make a donation towards the new building fund.

We are also having a craft fair that day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be vendors selling home made items and they will be individually priced. Get an early start on holiday shopping and stop by to purchase some unique gifts while making a difference in the community.

Other events happening on November 15 include participation in the first annual National Gaming Day sponsored by the American Library Association. The objective is to count the number of people playing games in libraries across the nation to help set a record. Drop by the library and be a part of this national event.

On a book note, author Joe Reilly, the Conivin’ Cowboy, will be at the library selling and signing his book “Magic, Luck, and Guardian Angels.”

Speaking of books, new bestsellers that have been added this week include: “A Most Wanted Man” by John Le Carre; “The Pirate King” by R.A. Salvatore; “Grace” by Richard Paul Evans; “A Wallflower Christmas” by Lisa Kleypas; “The Brass Verdict” by Michael Connelly; and “A Lion Among Men” by Gregory Maguire.

Make sure to mark your calendars for a free health and wellness program sponsored by the Little Elm Public Library, Town of Little Elm Human Resources Department, and the North Texas Spine Health and Wellness Center. The topic for this month is carpel tunnel syndrome: Prevention and Care presented by Dr. Brandon Wilson, will be held on November 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. in the town council chambers of Town Hall at 100 W. Eldorado Parkway. Registration is required so please call the library at 214-975-0430 and reserve your spot today.
